Background: Multiple studies in the primary care field have indicated benefits of using a patient centered approach communication with patient; such interviewing methods been shown to improve satisfaction and adherence. There is scarcity anesthetic literature regarding skills perioperative period. The goal analyze what extent empathic patient-centered are being used by anesthesia providers. Communication scores will be compared among providers, as well providers across several different subspecialties. Methods: This study an observational descriptive at large tertiary center, University Hospital Newark, NJ. observer observes grades interviews, scoring against established criteria adapted version Kalamazoo grading tool. researcher preoperative interview scale.
